How can we see?

The eye is the organ in our body that helps us see and perceive light. You can see when the eye takes in light and sends signals to your brain (Taylor Hibma).

There are many parts to the eye. I'm just going to go through the parts that are relevant to the topic at hand. Lets start with the cornea. The cornea is the front layer of the eye and lets the light in (Taylor Hibma). The part of the eye called the choroid is made up of two main structures, the iris and the ciliary body (Taylor Hibma). The color of your eye is determined by the iris, and the ciliary body aids the eye with focusing (Taylor Hibma). The iris has two muscles. One is the dilator which lets more light into the eye, and the second one is the sphincter which lets less light into the eye (Taylor Hibma). The last part is the retina, which allows you to see when there is a low amount of light available, and it helps you see with colors (Taylor Hibma).
