Reason 1
When the sun hits the sea water, the wavelengths closer to a red color (the longer wavelength) absorb and the shorter wavelength reflects back, thus we can see the green and the blue (which creates cyan). The blue light gets reflected when it travels further into the sea, but since light cannot travel farther than 200 meters, the water appears black (Hari).
